Baby Teething Guide: What to Expect and How to Soothe Your Little One

Your baby’s first teeth are a big milestone — and sometimes, a big challenge! Teething can make your little one fussy and uncomfortable, but with the right care and products, you can help ease their pain and keep those tiny gums healthy.

Here’s everything you need to know about teething and how to help your baby through it:

1. When Teething Starts.
Most babies start teething between 4 and 7 months. You may notice drooling, irritability, or a desire to chew on everything in sight.

2. Signs Your Baby Is Teething.

  • Swollen or red gums

  • Excessive drooling

  • Fussiness or mild crying

  • Biting and chewing on fingers or toys

  • Slight temperature increase

3. How to Comfort Your Baby.

  • Offer a silicone teether (chilled, not frozen!) to soothe sore gums.

  • Gently massage your baby’s gums with a clean finger.

  • Use a soft bib to keep drool away and prevent irritation around the mouth.

4. Keep It Clean.
Wash teethers daily with warm soapy water. Avoid liquid-filled or plastic toys that can break or leak.

5. Begin Early Dental Care.
Once the first tooth appears, start brushing gently with a soft baby toothbrush and water — no toothpaste needed yet!
